That’s a wrap! 2023 in review
Is that a bird? A plane? No, it’s Josef’s 2023!!
This was a year of experimentation, learning, hard work, and creativity!
From the launch of our groundbreaking GenAI tool Josef Q, to our brand new look, we are not the same Josef that started the year in January.
Our platform now supports more bots than ever: an advice tool that helps combat racism; a suite of automation tools that have digitized insurance giant Bupa’s low-risk documents; and an automation platform for attorneys at Silicon Valley stalwart Gunderson Dettmer.
We ran a stealth proof of concept with NYU, Cornell, Orrick, and Swiss pharmaceutical giant Ferring Pharmaceuticals, learning exactly how GenAI could be applied in legal and compliance.
And we were invited to ICAIL in Braga, Portugal, and JURIX in Maastricht, Netherlands, to present our cutting-edge research.
We welcomed new faces, like our Head of Engineering Marc, and said goodbye to some old friends. We traveled the world, with our COO Sam moving permanently to New York to lead the North American and European operations.

The big news
New year, new GenAI platform
Stealth proof of concept brings together legal powerhouses and GenAI legaltech Josef Q
It’s no secret… In March, we launched the Josef Q beta, and in the following months, we conducted industry-leading GenAI and LLM research alongside the likes of NYU, Cornell, Orrick, and more.
Fast forward a few months and we launched our brand-new platform Josef Q live from New York City last month! Legal teams around the world now use Josef Q to unlock critical corporate knowledge and the research continues.
Just this week, Josef COO Sam Flynn and Strategy Lead Ali Cook traveled to Maastricht in the Netherlands to present our findings at the 36th International Conference on Legal Knowledge and Information Systems.

Tackling the housing crisis
Amid the ongoing housing crisis, the state-wide community legal center Tenants Victoria built and launched its Repairs Toolkit with Josef.
The suite of tools helps renters understand their rental repair rights, they assist with engaging with landlords and help renters escalate issues to the government body, VCAT, wherever necessary.
A Josef use case from the platform’s very early days has come to full fruition and we’re thrilled!
