Josef is an AI platform where legal and compliance teams unblock and drive the business.
It’s where anyone can create self-service tools to answer FAQs, generate documents and contracts, or automate workflows like intake.
The majority of people who face a legal problem around the world don’t get legal assistance. And, for those who do, most are dissatisfied with the service they get.
Josef was created to solve that problem, founded by two young lawyers and a developer who believed that the law needs to work for everyone.
What’s in a name and why are we called Josef?
This is the story of how and why Josef came to be, and the Kafka character that serves as our inspiration.
Tom is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder at Josef, and leads the company strategy and global relationships with customers and technology partners.
He brings a global perspective on the legal industry, with experience working in law firms, universities, in-house teams and the court system both in Australia and the United States.
Sam is Co-Founder and COO of Josef, and leads Josef’s business operations, governance, marketing and customer success functions.
An ex-BigLaw litigator, Sam is on the Board for the Center for Legal Innovation, and on the Emerging Leaders Council of the Legal Services Corporation. He regularly speaks on generative AI, including at schools like Cornell and NYU, and at Stanford's 2024 conference on AI in legal & compliance: JURIX.
Kirill is a Co-Founder at Josef and is our former Chief Technology Officer.
No longer part of Josef's day-to-day operations Kirill now serves as an advisor to the business and sits on Josef's board. He's an award-winning software engineer and machine learning practitioner, having worked at digital agencies and played a key role in building solutions for government and local start-ups.
