We often hear from law students who want to intern for us.

Many are curious about legaltech, but aren’t sure whether it’s a real or meaningful career pathway. (It is!) Some want to know whether the culture of a high-growth tech startup is a better fit for them. Others just want to try new things, get some career opportunities on their resume and keep their options open while they’re studying. 

So, today we’re responding to those students by launching our first Josef Legaltech Internship program!

We’ve established this internship to:

• Give back to the student community, providing a pathway to getting real-world experience in a fast-growing legaltech company,
• Help improve diversity in the legaltech community – helping women, people of colour and LGBTQI+ people get their foot in the door,
• Meet people we may not otherwise get a chance to meet, including with an eye to future job opportunities, and 
• Showcase legaltech as a real and meaningful career pathway for law students.

Of course, we’re also always on the lookout for great people to join our team and be part of our challenging and rewarding growth journey. 

Another main driver of formalising an internship program is to attract more diverse people to the world of legaltech. We want to help underrepresented groups in the student community get their foot in the door and access opportunities they may not otherwise be exposed to. Things are getting better in both the tech and the legal world, but there’s still a lot more we can do. 

Interns will work alongside our team on live tasks and projects, 1-2 days per week over eight weeks.

In this time, they’ll receive some formal training and education, and spend their time working across product, customer success, marketing and business development, to give them real-life experience working at a legaltech startup.

We’re looking for law students in their final or penultimate year, who are:

• keen to learn 
• looking for a challenge
• passionate about access to justice, and making legal services more accessible
• interested in legal technology, design, innovation and/or start ups

 We also strongly encourage people from diverse backgrounds to apply, including ATSI, people of colour and LGBTQI+.
