Agribusiness giant Al Dahra relieves workload & boosts efficiency with Josef

Open the door to in-house legal services.

That’s what the in-house legal team at agribusiness giant Al Dahra wanted from Josef: to create an “easily accessible front door” that allows colleagues from across the business to access legal help as and when they need. 

In doing so Dawn Sanderson, Group General Counsel, felt she and her team could use automation to both empower themselves and, in turn, “service the business better”.

But how? By kickstarting their automation journey via a suite of automated, self-serve tools that’d take the weight of otherwise low-level, repetitive tasks. With an alleviated workload in sight, the Al Dahra team were set on levelling-up efficiency and making a bigger impact across the business.

Achieving consistency

With competing priorities and enquires coming in from all sides, the team needed tools that would facilitate smooth operations while improving the team’s capacity

“We were looking for something to take low-level tasks off our desk in order to focus on more strategic, high risk and high-value matters for the business”, notes Dawn. 

Frequently Asked Questions were one such low-level task. Important? Yes, but admittedly quite repetitive.

Questions would range from “‘Who is the authorised signatory for this?’, ‘Please can I get a copy of a trade licence for that?’ or ‘How about an NDA for this?'”.

By automating such questions and hosting the relevant information in a scalable FAQ bot, the legal team could do their job without lifting a finger. If they needed to amend the tool and add new information they could easily do so without starting from scratch. 

Following the bot’s launch, colleagues across the business can now easily access approved, consistent answers on Josef, or what Dawn describes as an “informal and user-friendly” platform that’s “exactly what we need”.

Fostering relationships

As with any in-house team, relationship management is key. 

For Al Dahra, automating with Josef also served as an opportunity to mutually improve the day-to-day work lives of those both delivering and using in-house legal services.

 “We wanted to improve the experience for our internal clients in dealing with the legal department. To make us more approachable and easier to use.” 

That way “we are approached for the right things at the right time so that we’re enhancing governance and compliance.”

Dawn notes that, “in turn, this would improve both interactions with, and the perception of, the legal department”. 

Now a Josef convert, Dawn’s energised by the possibilities and can already see the knock-on benefits awaiting her and the team.
