Senior front-end engineer

Josef is a game-changing no-code automation platform. A wave of digital transformation is sweeping the legal industry, and we’re looking for a talented Senior front-end engineer to join us for the ride.

We’re looking for a front-end engineer with solid experience in web application development and design systems. But more than that, we are after a person who is passionate about creating the best experience for our customers and our team. You will be working predominantly in the front-end space but you are comfortable dabbling in the back-end space from time to time. We want someone to engage, challenge and help take our products, processes, methodologies and tooling at Josef to the next level.

As a senior front-end engineer, you’ll work closely with Josef’s Head of Engineering, our designers and other engineers, building user-centric solutions and online services.

You’ll be working collaboratively with our team to help build and deliver the best front-end stack for each part of our service, building templates and views that integrate with APIs and delivering tested, production-ready code.

What you’ll do

• Write clean, reusable, maintainable code.
• Build web applications and design systems.
• Test your work across devices with a focus on accessibility and inclusive design.
• Work with UX researchers iterating prototypes.
• Ship amazing products.

Your life thus far has included:

• 5+ years building responsive web applications using JavaScript, SCSS and HTML5.
• Professional experience with a modern JavaScript web framework like VueJS (React, Angular, etc).
• Experience with writing automated tests (eg. Jest, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, AVA, tape).
• Experience using Git in a professional/workplace environment.
• Experience in building solutions with security, performance and accessibility in mind.
• A solid understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and workarounds.
• Great understanding of design systems.

• Have experience with performance and optimization problems, particularly at large scale, and a demonstrated ability to both diagnose and prevent these problems.
• Help to define and improve our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.
• Consistently ship moderately sized features and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members.
