Legaltech startup Josef expands to the United Kingdom and Europe

Legaltech startup Josef has expanded to the United Kingdom and Europe.

Josef has hired London-based legaltech expert Sharan Kaur to spearhead customer growth in the region.

The hire follows its recent funding round of $2.5 million, with the no-code legal automation company announcing it would establish a stronger presence in Europe and North America.

Sharan joins Josef as Head of Sales in the UK and Europe, Middle East and Africa, responsible for leading the company’s growth and expansion in the region.

Bolstering the company’s presence in Europe, Josef has also appointed Berlin-based Johan Lundstedt as its Head of Sales Operations.

In the past year, Josef has grown its UK customer base, which includes global esports brand Fnatic, multinational law firm Pinsent Masons and The Open University.

Josef works with law firms, in-house legal counsel, law schools and community legal centres.

Globally, Josef’s customers include major law firms like MinterEllison and Herbert Smith Freehills, as well as in-house legal teams across different sectors, including L’Oreal and Randstad

“Josef’s customer base has expanded organically in the UK, with some of the most innovative law firms and in-house teams in the country already on the platform,” Josef’s Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder, Tom Dreyfus, said.

“The strength of that demand, supercharged by Sharan’s experience, has us perfectly placed to enter the next phase of our expansion in the UK and Europe.”

Sharan is an experienced legaltech figure in Europe, having worked in senior sales and partnerships roles at Bryter and Thomson Reuters.

“I’m very excited to be joining the Josef team as it expands its growth in this region,” Sharan said.

“There is clearly a gap in the market for a truly intuitive no-code solution that is designed for all technical abilities. Josef has received a warm reception in UK and EMEA markets and I look forward to building on our successes.”

UK customers welcome expansion

Fnatic’s General Counsel, Andrew Cooke, said “using Josef to automate our workflow and generate contracts has saved us a lot of time, and has allowed us to shift our focus from daily deliverables to being future-ready.”

“After 25 meetings with legaltech vendors, we found the amazing Josef. It’s a platform that lets anyone build completely bespoke, highly sophisticated bots using decision trees.”

“Our legal team is the happiest department,” he said.

Benjamin Carter, Head of Product and Solutions Delivery at multinational law firm Pinsent Masons, said: “Josef’s platform demonstrates the value and benefit that low code/no-code tech innovation can provide to legal services.”

“As a professional services business with law at the core, it’s vital that the technology products and solutions we implement are accessible, easy to use and adapt to our client’s needs.”

“Josef has been proven to be a valuable partner in providing innovative technology underpinned by a practical approach to delivery.”
