Ready to take off: Josef’s vision for 2022

We’re pouring rocket fuel … into 2022!

Rocket ships are ubiquitous in the tech world. Some cynics might even say it’s a cliche! But, at Josef, that pretty much sums up our plans for 2022. If you dropped into a recent strategy session with our CEO Tom Dreyfus, you might have even heard him telling the team to ‘pour rocket fuel into it’.

Josef’s Founders took a moment to share their vision for the new year.

Now’s the time

“In 2022, Josef’s ambition is to supercharge the digital transformation that is already underway in the legal industry. We’re focused on enabling lawyers to build the future of legal services,” said Josef CEO, Tom Dreyfus.

Historically, legal service delivery has been manual. For the last few years, some of the best legal teams around the world have been using Josef to leverage legaltech and automation to transform the way they work and deliver legal services.

In 2022, the incentive to do so has never been more apparent. More and more legal teams are proactively going digital and automating: this is becoming ubiquitous. Operating at the intersection of process automation and legal service provision, Josef is excited about the growth opportunities 2022 presents for us.

“As lawyers move to leverage legaltech to solve their challenges, our ambition is to be a valued partner helping them find innovative solutions. 2021 for Josef was an incredible year of growth punctuated by exciting highlights.”

With a mission as ambitious as Josef’s, our 2022 is focused on ‘leveling up’ how we serve the needs of our customers.

“Looking ahead to 2022, we’ve thought long and hard about our vision and how we serve our customers and very purposely invested across the business.”

Mission objective: deliver customer benefits at scale

“In 2022, we’ll be scaling our product team and hiring more engineers, product managers and designers to deliver on an ambitious product roadmap. Investment in people will help us to unify and improve our UI/UX across all of our products,” CTO and Co-founder Kirill Kliavin confirmed.

“The strength of Josef’s product is the easiest and most visually appealing UI in legal automation. We’re doubling down by focusing on the continuous improvement of our user experience for customers.”

Product development and delivering an exceptional experience is one side of the coin. The other, delivering features our customers want and need.

“We’re grateful to have some tremendous customers who are finding creative ways to use Josef. We want to unlock opportunities for more use cases by being even more fanatical in our focus on delivering features our customers are telling us about to solve their challenges.”

“Empowering lawyers requires more than just new features; it’s also about utilisation and building a thriving Josef community.”

May the ‘community’ be with you

Sam Flynn, Josef’s COO, added, “Empowering lawyers requires more than just new features; it’s also about utilisation and building a thriving Josef community.”

“We know that lawyers are lifelong learners. We’re continuing and scaling our successful DBP program to support more lawyers to upskill.”

This year the team is looking forward to serving our customers through proactive thought leadership and improving access to resources and support.

“Unusually for legaltech, our customers also want to talk to one another across firms and legal teams, and even share their bots,” said Sam. So, in 2022, plans are also in motion to launch a Josef community that will let customers interact, share, and solve common challenges together.

Integration development at light Josef speed

“We already integrated with leading legaltech platforms and middleware providers,” said Kirill Kliavin.

“But, this year, our ambition is to supercharge integrations, unlocking new use cases and opportunities for our customers to build innovative solutions to their day-to-day challenges by allowing their Josef bots to speak to the other platforms they use every day.”

“Legal professionals use a suite of digital tools and systems to get their work done. It’s not one size fits all. Integrations are a big part of enabling our customers,” agreed Dreyfus.

“We’re focusing on integrating Josef with every legal professional’s most important systems. And working on some exciting new partnerships that will create true end-to-end legal automation for the busy lawyer.”

The key to access to justice? More collaborations

“Last year Josef was involved in some of the most innovative A2J collaborations, including work with Clifford Chance and its not-for-profit clients in New York and DC,” shared Flynn.

“We worked with the peak body for community legal centres in Western Australia, and provided the technology behind the partnership between Macquarie University, K+L Gates, the National Justice Project on discrimination law bots.”

Supporting community organisations and pro bono legal professionals to use automation to bridge the access to justice gap remains a core pillar in our vision.

“What made these projects work was the fact that different teams with different skills came together with intention and purpose. With these and other successes on the board, we think that 2022 will bring more,” declared Flynn.

You can’t build a rocket ship without rocketeers

“We want Josef to be the best place to work in legaltech,” asserted our CEO, Tom Dreyfus.

“Growth is vital to both Josef and our customers. It enables us to expand our product, services and reach to continue helping lawyers transform the way they work.”

“But in order to achieve our goals and ambitions, we know and understand we need to continue to build a world-class workplace with a world-class team.”

“We’re investing heavily in learning and development, employee wellbeing, and will continue to be a remote-first company to offer our team a supportive, inclusive and flexible environment.”
